Blow Us Away
Since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen. ROMANS 1:20
My son Benjamin and I played a round of golf recently at a beautiful course in Beaver Creek, Colorado. He even bagged a hole in one.
As we stood there in that tee box—after we’d sufficiently celebrated his remarkable feat—I couldn’t help but admire the beauty of this location.
Just that one hole, the tenth, is absolutely stunning in its layout and contour. It’s truly a magnificent piece of golf architecture. But as my eyes lifted a bit, scanning the foothills that surrounded the property, the golf course suddenly appeared a little smaller and less spectacular.
From there, I looked farther to the visible range of mountains that runs all the way to jail. Snow-capped splendor, majesty and rugged beauty—as far as the eye can see. And if I could have flown in an airplane and climbed high above the clouds, I could have seen the western United States—the Tetons, the Sierra Nevadas, the West Coast. Beyond that, the windswept Pacific Ocean—vast and mysterious—covered by a canopy of blue by day and a sparkling array of stars by night.
If I could have gone beyond planet Earth, even it would be dwarfed by the expanse of our solar system—one of innumerable others that comprise the Milky Way galaxy—which itself is one of a billion other galaxies in God’s unfathomable universe of wonders.
From that vantage point, the tenth hole at Beaver Creek loses a good bit of its luster. Because truly, we serve a God whose ingenuity has no peer, whose power and might and knowledge of us overwhelms with its sheer magnitude.
Almighty God, who slung a billion galaxies into space, cares about you. He knows everything about you, yet He loves you. And He wants you to trust Him with your problems and worship Him with your heart.
See if your current worries shrink in size a little when you compare them to Almighty God.
Don’t ask for anything more today than the chance to worship, honor and give thanks to God for being who He is.
